A boss-clear build still needs a survival plan

Overtime is used in two contexts in the supplied gameplay. During a boss fight, a timer can lead to increased pressure if the encounter drags on. After completing the normal boss sequence, the player can also choose to continue surviving.
Those situations need different decisions. In the first, finish the boss before the crowd makes it harder to reach. In the second, decide whether the build has the movement and recovery needed for a longer attempt.

Solve the unfinished boss first
When the boss is alive, keep the burst aimed at the objective. Use cooldown downtime to reposition, then return for the next useful attack. Getting distracted by another large target can leave the boss surrounded by enemies and harder to damage.
This is not a reason to ignore imminent danger. Clear the immediate escape route when necessary, but remember why the fight is escalating.
Check readiness after the clear

Do not interpret a large army or a screen full of projectiles as proof that the castle is safe. The recorded Empress run clears bosses strongly and still loses to late ranged pressure.
Keep a second escape when available
The long turret run uses Ram partly as additional movement, not just contact damage. A shorter cooldown or a useful duration change can help that job. This is a build example, not a requirement for every vehicle.
Preserve the tool for the moment it solves. Spending both Nitro and the movement ability on routine travel can leave you trapped when the real threat appears.
Hotfix 0.9.8 added a delay before Nitro regeneration begins after boosting. Old boost-spamming footage should not be treated as a dependable current technique.
Upgrade the bottleneck that remains
Once the build kills ordinary enemies comfortably, another narrow damage upgrade may be less useful than recovery or movement. If enemies now live long enough to close every exit, damage or coverage still matters.
Watch the failure develop. Falling health despite good kills points toward sustain or avoidance. An empty screen behind you but a wall of enemies ahead may mean the route is the problem. A boss trapped outside deployed-turret range asks for repositioning.

Respect the desert's ranged pressure
The desert example repeatedly struggles with mortars after an otherwise strong run. Its player suggests trying more recovery afterward, but that suggestion is not a proven record route.

Judge farming by repeatable results
A long survival video is not a reliable Silver-per-hour measurement. Include setup time and failed attempts when deciding whether Overtime is helping your account.
If the aim is the next permanent purchase, an unfinished objective on a manageable stage may be a better choice. Use Silver farming priorities instead of assuming the longest possible run is always the most efficient.
Recover a boss fight that has already run long
If Overtime appears while a boss is alive, identify that boss before choosing another target. The Golden Dunes recording reaches this situation during the second boss of the sequence. The player is still trying to improve Front Cannon, recover health and place mortar attacks usefully. This is not the same situation as a completed build entering optional survival after the final boss.
Make the next active attack count. Locate the boss, approach from an angle that lets your important ability connect, and choose an exit before firing. Use the recharge interval to steer away from pressure rather than staying beside the target without a useful attack. The beginner footage specifically recommends returning for another burst when the ability is ready.
The danger of delay is not only the boss's remaining health. More nearby enemies can obstruct approaches and absorb attention, making it harder to apply damage to the objective. If your attacks are mostly hitting the surrounding group, clear the immediate lane you need and reestablish a useful angle. Chasing an unrelated reward target during that process can prolong the problem.
Do not read this as an instruction to drive straight through lethal fire. A short defensive detour that preserves the next attack can help finish the encounter. The distinction is purpose: use the detour to heal, reopen a route or bring a cooldown back, then resume the boss. An open-ended circuit collecting minor rewards gives the unfinished fight more time to become crowded.
Make the continuation decision from the last fight
The final boss fight provides a practical sample of the build's condition. If it ends with useful attacks available, room to steer and health that can recover after ordinary hits, there is a basis for trying Overtime. If it ends only because a one-time survival effect bought the last attack, recognize that the continuation begins with less protection than the winning moment might suggest.
Look at the health trend across the fight, not just the final amount. A late pickup can hide a steady pattern of losses. Ask whether you can repeat the recovery you just used. A healing source that was reachable once may now be behind enemies, while a consumed one-time effect is no longer a reserve for the next mistake.
Check whether the build needed every ability simultaneously to clear pressure. A powerful combined burst can defeat a boss but leave an uncomfortable interval before the next useful attack. Automatic damage, shorter cooldowns or a second deployment can make that interval manageable. The relevant question is what remains active while you are moving away.
There is also a goal decision. Continuing to complete a nearly finished objective is different from attempting a record. A normal clear can be the successful outcome of a progression run. When an end-of-run choice is offered, use the goal and the castle's condition to decide. Do not assume that an equally convenient exit will remain available later during combat.
Give each part of the build a survival job
A useful Overtime setup needs damage that reaches the threats, movement that creates space, and some way to manage health losses. These jobs can come from different modules and choices. The long arrow run uses deployed turrets, mobile arrow attacks and Ram. Summon examples use armies and additional attacks while the player steers. Neither layout removes the need to watch the castle itself.
Turrets suit a route that brings enemies through the firing area. If your escape path constantly pulls the whole fight away from them, the deployed damage may stop helping. Place the next deployment where the pressure is moving and let mobile attacks support the transition. Remaining next to an obsolete turret because it was expensive to deploy is not a survival plan.
Summons can let damage continue while you search for healing, but their presence does not block every projectile or direct the castle away from danger. The Empress example ends under ranged pressure despite a successful army. If units are fighting something elsewhere, pay attention to what can hit the castle now rather than judging safety from the size of the friendly group.
Cannon setups require useful firing angles during travel. An upgraded active shot that regularly misses contributes less than its description suggests. Make the approach part of the plan: align the attack, use it on a relevant target and leave before the route closes. If the required angle is unsafe, reposition rather than trading the castle's remaining health for one more shot.
Keep moving with a route, not just a held boost button
Movement is most useful when it carries the castle into space you can continue using. Boosting directly into a narrow gap can turn a recoverable situation into a collision. Look beyond the immediate enemy and choose ground that supports the next turn. As the castle grows, reassess routes that worked earlier rather than assuming the same gap is still comfortable.
The long Norbert run repeatedly uses Ram to escape and later improves its usefulness for that role. Other summon footage plans to obtain Ram but never receives it. That difference matters when copying builds. A movement tool listed in an intended loadout cannot help if it never appears, so the run still needs a workable route with its current equipment.
Preserve one movement option when the ground is already safe. If Nitro and a movement ability are both spent on routine collection, the next group may arrive while neither can create distance. Use them together when the situation demands it, but notice when simultaneous use has become a habit rather than a response to danger.
The 0.9.8 Nitro change delays regeneration until half a second after boosting. This specifically changes the assumptions behind old boost-spamming behavior. Read the meter in your current game and allow it to recover when the route permits. The patch gives a regeneration delay, not a guaranteed dodge window against an enemy attack.
Choose recovery that can operate during your route
Recovery effects depend on how the run is being played. In arrow footage, a consume-based heal is useful around accessible sheep, but automatic arrows can kill enemies before the castle reaches them. In summon footage, the player looks for both healing pickups and units to consume while under pressure. Count the opportunities you can reach safely, not every unit visible on the screen.
A larger health pool and ongoing healing solve different problems. More maximum health increases the amount of damage you can tolerate; recovery helps after that damage has happened. If every pass costs health and nothing restores it, a larger pool can postpone the same outcome. If a single large hit ends otherwise stable runs, immediate protection or more health may be more relevant.
One-time survival effects require separate attention. The Empress player expects Phoenix Feather near the end and then realizes it is no longer available. Treating an already-used safeguard as a remaining resource can change a decision at exactly the wrong moment. Check what is actually active instead of relying on what you selected earlier.
Do not leave all recovery decisions until the health bar is nearly empty. When the build's damage is already comfortable, inspect available healing or defensive choices while you still have time for them to contribute. A slow recovery plan selected immediately before a fatal barrage cannot demonstrate its value. Conversely, do not interrupt the only attack capable of opening a route for a recovery effect you cannot safely trigger.
Read the first change in enemy pressure
Overtime can feel stable for a while before the same route begins failing. The long turret example eventually reaches a point where enemies are not being destroyed quickly enough and health starts falling. The useful signal is that change in performance, not a universal minute marker. Different equipment, stages and versions do not produce a single reliable timetable here.
Watch whether enemies survive your usual pass and remain behind or beside the castle. If they do, the next lap may contain pressure you previously removed. A wider route can buy time, but if every lap leaves more living threats, damage coverage also needs attention. Repeating the same narrow turn makes the accumulating group harder to avoid.
Watch ranged pressure separately. Mortars or artillery can begin reaching you even while nearby enemies die quickly. In that case, another upgrade aimed at the close group may not affect the source of health loss. Identify a safer line through the projectiles and consider whether the firing enemy can be approached without exposing the castle to several other threats.
Screen clutter can hide this transition. Focus on the leading edge of your route and the health trend after each pass. A spectacular attack effect is not a reliable measure of control. If health continues falling during impressive kills, the build's offensive appearance and its actual survival are telling different stories.
Avoid treating every late upgrade as more damage
The best next choice depends on the part of the loop that is failing. If enemies remain in turret coverage and survive, damage is directly relevant. If your strongest attack is ready but has no safe angle, improve the route first. If attacks work and health still declines from occasional hits, recovery may have more practical value than another narrow offensive bonus.
Cooldown is similarly conditional. It helps when waiting for a useful ability creates danger. It does less when the ability is already ready most of the time because you neglect it or cannot position it. The arrow recording repeatedly remarks on not using Side Ballista's active attack. That is a reminder to compare upgrades with your actual play, particularly after later balance changes affect a module's active and automatic strengths.
Duration can help a deployment that remains useful throughout a long encounter. It does little for a deployment you leave far behind immediately. Range can help maintain coverage around a wider route, but does not make a poor location safe. Choose a card for a visible limitation rather than treating a familiar keyword as a universal answer.
If the build reaches a point with few useful upgrades left, stop expecting the next menu to rescue a weak route. The long turret run eventually describes having completed its available development and continues until increasing pressure wins. That observation supports planning for a ceiling, not promising that any particular level makes the build endless.
Measure progress by a repeatable improvement
For a survival attempt, a useful improvement may be reaching the same phase with more health, avoiding the collision that ended the previous run, or maintaining damage during a previously empty cooldown interval. These are more actionable than copying a video's total runtime, which includes menus, earlier fights and commentary.
For a farming attempt, separate rewards from objectives and rewards from the continuation itself. A run that completes a large objective can look unusually profitable without proving that its Overtime route earns the same amount every time. Compare completed attempts with similar goals and include failed openings before calling a method efficient.
After a loss, keep the explanation narrow enough to act on. For example, a turret build that ran out of open ground needs a placement and route revision; a summon build that survived contact but lost to mortars needs a ranged-pressure answer. Preserve what worked and change the first important failure. That is how the examples become useful for your next run without turning their best moments into guarantees.
